I was feeling utterly helpless.  I could not reach out for help! My partner was not at home.  My family was overseas and my close friend was in Japan.  I had the foreboding feeling that something bad, very very bad was just about to happen. 

My brain just froze and I just could not think of anything.  The only thought that came to my mind was, '"Go to the hospital, now".  By now, it started to rain relentlessly and I just grabbed an umbrella and stepped out in the pelting rain.  By the this time, the gripping fear in the stomach turned to severe cramps and I practically doubled over.  I could not even stand up straight.  All I remember, on that cold, dark, windy afternoon was that, somehow I made it to the hospital.

After 20 minutes of waiting in the queue, when I finally got to the receptionst, I said, "I need help NOW ! Something is desperately wrong with me!  Get me a doctor, pleeaase!!".  The receptionist merely looked up from her crossword puzzle and said, "Luv, this is Sunday afternoon, the hospital closes up in 20 minutes.  I can't help you.  You might try your luck at the clinic across the road".  Somehow, I found my way to the clinic. 

The Road To My Amazing Discovery Had Just Begun...

The doctor was never a solution to my anxiety problem.  However, this was only the beginning of my journey through several prescriptions, drugs, therapies, diets, treatments for over several years.  Thousands of dollars later, plus countless hours of research - my problem was suppressed but I did not experience the much sought after freedom from anxiety!!

I wake up in the morning well rested after a good night's sleep.    I do not fear going to work and interacting with people.  I get through my day smoothly.  I face glitches, challenges and confrontations which I manage skillfully (this would have caused an overwhelm for me before and reduced me to tears). 

My colleagues approach me for my advise on some challenging situations and ask for creative ideas for marketing campaigns. After a good day's work, I say 'Goodbye' with a smile and leave work on a happy note.  I have a lunch date with my friends and enjoy a few laughs!!  We plan to meet again next week!

 An above average day!! (Now)

  • I enjoy a good night's sleep.  I wake up totally refreshed and do my meditation practices and offer my thanks for living a life free from anxiety.  I am enthusiastic on my way to work - I have just thought up some creative ideas that will make a difference to work.  I seem to be getting fresh, creative ideas from out of nowhere these days.
