How To Overcome Anxiety

What To Do For Anxiety?

Hi,
I am back again... Work has been hectic. They have announced at least 800 job cuts and we have told it would be swift. Boy, was it swift!! One whole department of at least 120 people were asked to leave and they left in 5 days time. Not enough time to say 'goodbyes' or to get their thoughts together for their future. Many of them were my dearest colleagues and friends.

Needless to say they were facing incredible levels of anxiety - at least one of them were getting married the following week, yet another colleague/friend was going through family health crisis.

Anxiety was certainly rife all around.Anxiety can be catching even more so when it is at collective energy levels in certain 'pockets' such as this particular area.

But, what to do for anxiety?

Top 7 things you can do under such circumstances are:

1. Think, "Hey, I don't know what sort of opportunities are lurking around the corner. I just need a different pair of eyes to spot them."

2. Pull out your wish list and get to do some of the things you actually want to do.

3. Retrieve your little black book and ring those contacts you have - your network may increase your networth by helping you with a better paid job.

4. Refresh your resume - not only is it ready to be sent out to potential employers - it will serve as an excellent boost to your confidence. It will show you in black and white the wonderful things you have achieved in your career so far.

5. Spend time with your family. Remember the times when you worked late and did not get to spend time with your family. This is a great time to make up for lost time with your family!

6. Take up the meditation/yoga. If you implement that now as part of a routine, not only would that help you overcome anxiety, it will also help you continue with healthy mental habits when you start your new job.7. Certainly keep in touch with your old colleagues - they just may have that one contact/lead that can lead you to a dream job!

These tips should help you get some anxiety relief coming from loss of jobs.

Skipping Meals And Anxiety

Hi,

Back again on line today. The penny just dropped today!!

I've experienced a little bit of anxiety, although there was no particular reasons and I just could not put my finger on the spot...

On reflection - I just noticed that in the last couple of weeks due to work pressure I was skipping meals - it was easy and convenient to do. Physically, I felt OK, however it started to catch up.

Due to lack of sustenance and energy, I felt continuing anxious moments.

Moral of the story: To control anxiety make sure your have regular healthy meals a day.

How To Overcome Anxiety Now

Hi,

I am Vidhya Raghavan and am a Melbourne based coach and facilitator. I teach people to make the most of the their mind. I will be blogging about anxiety. I am bascially choosing this as my topic because it is unrecognised and understated. There are literally hundred of people who go through anxiety and fear and have simply learned to live with it, and not know life any better.

I too have experienced anxiety for long and learnt to live with it - however, I decided enough is enough and worked on finding solutions for it. Happy to say that for the last 10 years, I am free from it.

In this blog, I will be discussing issues that impact anxious people on a daily basis. I look forward to blogging on anxiety
